Asda is giving drivers savings of up to £3 on every fuel fill-up at 262 participating UK stores this October. The supermarket chain has brought back its fuel saving offer for Rewards users, granting customers who spend £40 or more in a single in-store transaction a 5p per litre fuel coupon in their Asda Rewards app.
The offer applies to in-store purchases made between now and October 14, and the 5p off coupon can be redeemed on a single fuel purchase until October 31 at participating Asda filling stations.
Savings for a typical family car
According to Asda, customers with a typical 60-litre family car could save up to £3 each time they fill up, with the 5p off bonus available at 262 Asda stores and Asda Express sites that offer Asda-branded fuel.
Asda said the bonus gives its Rewards customers more ways to save at a time when family budgets are under increasing pressure from rising living costs. The company's monthly Income Tracker, which measures how much money households have left after paying taxes and essential bills, showed spending power growth slowed to 3.4% last month – the weakest level since March.
Customer feedback drives return
Rachel Eyre, chief customer officer at Asda, said: “The weekly shop and the cost of filling up the car are two of the biggest everyday expenses for many households.
“Customers told us how much they valued this Rewards offer when we ran it earlier this year. We're pleased to bring it back as part of our continued investment to help keep the cost of feeding and fuelling the family down.”
How the Rewards app works
The Asda Rewards app is free to download and works by scanning a digital barcode at the checkout in-store or logging in online. Customers can complete in-app missions which add cash directly to their digital cashpot once successfully completed, as well as receiving in-app coupons that give instant, specific discounts across their shop.
Cashpot balances can then be converted into vouchers to be scanned at the checkout or applied to online groceries when you shop. Cashpot funds expire six months after they are earned and generated vouchers are valid for 90 days.
