Asda has introduced a new offer across 262 UK stores that helps customers save on petrol and diesel prices. Shoppers who spend £40 or more in store receive a 5p-per-litre coupon redeemable when filling up their vehicle.
The scheme began earlier this week and runs until October 14, with customers having until October 31 to redeem their coupons.
Fuel prices at record highs
The launch comes as fuel prices have climbed to their highest since the start of the war in the Middle East in February. UK drivers currently pay an average of 172.6p per litre of petrol, while diesel owners face 197.7p on average.
Earlier this month, oil prices rose above 100 dollars a barrel for the first time since July following the latest round of strikes in the conflict.
Savings and how to claim
Asda's offer could save drivers up to £3 each time they fill a typical 60-litre family car. It is available at 262 participating Asda and Asda Express sites offering Asda-branded fuel.
Rachel Eyre, Chief Customer Officer at Asda, said: “The weekly shop and the cost of filling up the car are two of the biggest everyday expenses for many households. Customers told us how much they valued this Rewards offer when we ran it earlier this year.
"We're pleased to bring it back as part of our continued investment to help keep the cost of feeding and fuelling the family down."
Customers need the Asda Rewards app to participate, as the coupon is sent and redeemed through it. Asda says it has continued to invest in keeping fuel and food prices in check, with independent comparisons by Which? and The Grocer consistently recognising it as the UK's cheapest full-range supermarket for groceries.
