Skinny Crunch Light Peanut Butter Bars have been urgently recalled from Asda and Sainsbury's stores across England and Scotland after a packaging error left peanuts undeclared on the label.
The bars were incorrectly placed inside wrappers meant for Skinny Whip Toffee bars, meaning peanuts are not listed as an ingredient. This poses a serious health risk to anyone with a peanut allergy.
Recalled product details
The affected product is Skinny Crunch Light Peanut Butter Bars, sold in packs of five x 20g. The batch code is 6238 (08:30 - 10:30) and the best-before date is August 2027.
The Food Standards Agency (FSA) issued an official recall notice, stating: "Halo Foods Ltd is recalling the above product and has been advised to contact the relevant allergy support organisations, which will tell their members about the recall."
Point of sale notices will be displayed in all retail stores selling the product and on their websites, explaining why the recall is happening and what customers should do if they have bought the item.
Customer advice and refunds
The FSA added: "If you have bought the above product, do not eat it. Instead, return it to where you bought it from for a full refund."
Asda told shoppers: "The product is being recalled because it may contain undeclared peanut allergen. Although the outer packaging and bars are correct, the individual bar wrapper inside states toffee whip bars with incorrect allergens. This means the product may present a risk to consumers, particularly those who are allergic to peanuts."
Asda said customers should return the item to their local branch for a full refund, even without proof of purchase.
Contact and health guidance
For more information, customers can contact Halo Foods at Enquiries@skinnybars.co.uk or 0800 298 3969, or Asda Customer Relations on 0330 053 0111. Anyone with health concerns after consuming the product should seek appropriate medical guidance.
Halo Foods stated: "Halo Foods apologises for any inconvenience caused and is taking this matter seriously, please note that no other Skinny products are affected by this action."
The FSA regularly publishes food recall or allergy alerts for products across the UK. It explained that foods may be withdrawn or recalled if there is a risk to consumers because allergy labelling is missing or incorrect, and in such cases an Allergy Alert is issued.
