TV star Alison Hammond has partnered with McCain to launch CHIP, a pop-up restaurant dedicated entirely to chips, where she has created a signature dish called the National Treasure. The restaurant is open for four days from November 5 to November 8 at 2 Westgate Street in London Fields, from 11.30am to 7pm, and all servings are free.
A Menu of Chip Toppings
CHIP features a sprawling menu of toppings that can be sprinkled and drizzled on McCain chips. Inspired by flavour trends from the 90s to now, guests can indulge in chips topped with an almost endless variety of flavours including truffle oil, pumpkin spice, balsamic glaze, pickle vinegar, matcha and gochujang.
The National Treasure, dedicated to Hammond, features garlic butter, hot honey and Everything Bagel seasoning. Other serves include Pomme de Terre, a rich, earthy take on 90s-inspired flavours combining aromatic truffle oil, umami-packed porcini mushroom dust and rosemary sea salt.
Signature Serves
Fall Fries is described as a 'millennial autumn dream', combining pumpkin spice, indulgent salted caramel and a cinnamon-sugar swirl. The Po-TEA-to is billed as a TikTok-worthy Japanese-inspired fusion of earthy matcha, umami-rich miso and zesty yuzu. Chip-kle is a tangy nod to the internet's pickle obsession, pairing sharp pickle vinegar with comforting garlic butter and Himalayan pink salt.
Hammond said: "Honestly, is there anything better than a good chip? I absolutely love them and they're always a winner in our home. Now, I might not be winning any awards for my cooking, but when it comes to serving up a cracking portion of chips, I know what I'm doing."
Celebrating Chips
Laura Koscik, Marketing Director at McCain, said: "Chips have been a constant on our plates through decades of changing food culture. At CHIP, we're putting this much-loved icon centre stage and inviting people to rediscover their love of chips."
As the maker of one in four chips worldwide, McCain is celebrating the food people already love while giving it a fresh role in modern food culture, with the pop-up offering visitors the chance to try new chip combinations for free.
