Aldi imposes three-bottle limit on £9.99 rosé magnum
Aldi three-bottle limit on £9.99 rosé magnum

Aldi is set to enforce a strict three-bottle-per-person limit on its bestselling La Grand Poulet Rosé Magnum when the discounted wine returns to shelves this week.

The supersized 150cl bottle will be reduced from its regular £11.99 to £9.99, but the deal will only be available from Thursday, August 27 to Wednesday, September 2, while stocks last. Aldi has warned customers that “once it is gone, it is gone”.

Why the limit has been imposed

The magnum holds the equivalent of two regular 75cl bottles that typically cost £6.29 each, which would total £12.58. The offer therefore saves shoppers almost £2.60 on a single bottle.

Hailed for its “elegant” palette, La Grand Poulet has become a fan favourite since it first debuted in September 2025. It is widely seen as a cheaper alternative to the TikTok-viral La Vieille Ferme Rosé, nicknamed “the chicken wine”, which starts at £8.79 for a 75cl bottle and £17 for a 1.5L magnum.

Wine expert praise

The budget supermarket’s version has earned its own following, with fans calling it “stunning” and “very similar” to the branded alternative. Wine expert Sam Caporn, also known as The Mistress of Wine, praised the magnum as a “gorgeous magnum” and “even more of a winner” on Instagram, while a follower called it “unbeatable value”.

The wine has an ABV of 12.5%, the same as its branded counterpart, and is described as “refreshing” with aromas of citrus fruits and red berries. Aldi says it pairs well with salads, chicken dishes and fish.

The standard-size La Petit Poulet has also won over critics, including Partner in Wine on TikTok, who told her followers to “run, not walk” for the rosé. The Daily Record’s Rachel Williams recently conducted a taste test of all the chicken wines.

Aldi’s magnum La Grand Poulet Rosé (150cl) will cost £9.99 and be available between August 27 and September 3, with sales restricted to three bottles per customer while stocks last.
