Air Fryer Cleaning Hack: Sparkling Results in 20 Minutes

Air fryers have become a staple in many UK kitchens, but a recent reminder from Hisense UK suggests that many owners are not cleaning their appliances often enough. The manufacturer advises cleaning after every use, yet some delay due to uncertainty about the best method or concerns over time.

A simple cleaning hack using common household ingredients promises to restore an air fryer to a 'brand new' condition in just 20 minutes. The method requires dish soap, baking soda, and hot water, and has been widely shared and tested online.

TikTok creator Ciara, known for air fryer recipes, demonstrated the technique in a viral video. She explains: 'Just put in a squirt of washing up liquid, a quarter cup of baking soda, and you’re going to fill that up with boiling water up to the top. You are going to leave it for 20 minutes then pour it all out. Rinse with warm water, dry with a paper towel and there you go, it’s like brand new.'

Cleaning experts from Good Housekeeping endorse baking soda for deep cleaning, particularly for burnt-on food or grease, due to its gentle abrasive texture and alkaline properties. The Cleaning Collective also notes that baking soda can neutralise lingering odours: 'If your air fryer has developed lingering odours, sprinkle a thin layer of baking soda on the bottom and let it sit for a few hours before wiping it away.'
