Armed police and emergency services rushed to a property in Barrie Way, Bolton, on Wednesday afternoon after reports of a dog attack. Three people were taken to hospital, and a dog described by witnesses as an "XL-bully type" was seized.
Incident Details
Police were called just before 3:30pm on 29 July 2026 to reports of a dog bite at an address in Barrie Way. An air ambulance landed at Hall i' Th' Wood, a manor house in Bolton now used as a museum, as paramedics attended the scene alongside police dog units and armed officers.
A dog handler removed the animal from the house and placed it in an animal transport van. Greater Manchester Police (GMP) confirmed that three people were taken to hospital by ambulance and that one dog had been seized. No arrests have been made.

In a full statement, a GMP spokesperson said: "Officers were called just before 3.30pm on Wednesday 29 July 2026 to a report of a dog bite at an address on Barrie Way in Bolton. Emergency services attended and three people have been taken by ambulance to hospital. One dog has been seized. No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing."
