Police Scotland have released a third wave of CCTV images of football fans following disorder during Celtic’s Premiership title celebrations in Glasgow. The latest batch of 27 images brings the total number of individuals officers want to identify to 83.
Incident in Trongate
The disorder occurred on Saturday, May 16, in the Trongate area, where around 3,000 supporters had gathered. Missiles, including broken bottles, were thrown at police while they dealt with a medical emergency. Three members of the public were taken to hospital, and two police officers sustained serious injuries.
Chief Superintendent Emma Croft, divisional commander for Greater Glasgow, said: “Significant enquiries remain ongoing into this disorder which impacted communities, businesses, police officers and supporters. I would urge the people in these images, or anyone who believes they may recognise them, to contact us.”
Previous appeals
Earlier, police released 28 images on Monday and another 28 on Tuesday. The investigation, named Operation Gristaline, continues.
Assistant Chief Constable Mark Sutherland previously criticised the lack of an organised event and called for urgent discussions with Celtic, Scottish football authorities, and Glasgow City Council to improve public safety.
