State Pension, PIP and Other Benefits Paid Early Next Month

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) and Social Security Scotland have announced that some benefit payments due on the August bank holiday will be paid early. The bank holiday falls on Monday, August 31, meaning scheduled payments for that date will be issued on Friday, August 28, or Friday, August 29, depending on the agency.

Why Payments Are Being Moved

DWP offices and phone lines will be closed on the bank holiday. Payments are typically made only when all services are available, including webchat and Jobcentre Plus offices. Therefore, DWP is expected to follow the same revised payment pattern as HMRC and Social Security Scotland.

DWP Payment Changes

DWP has not yet officially confirmed its payment date changes, but it is expected to issue payments due on Monday, August 31 on Friday, August 29. The affected benefits include:

HMRC Payment Changes

HMRC has confirmed that payments due on Monday, August 31 will be issued on Friday, August 29. Additionally, there are changes for Child Benefit payments in Scotland due on August 3 or 4: payments due on Monday, August 3 will arrive on Tuesday, August 4, and payments due on Tuesday, August 4 will arrive on Wednesday, August 5. These changes apply only to Scotland. The affected HMRC payments are:

  • Child Benefit
  • Guardian’s Allowance

Social Security Scotland Payment Changes

Social Security Scotland has confirmed that payments due on Monday, August 31 will be issued on Friday, August 29. The affected payments include:

  • Adult Disability Payment
  • Child Disability Payment
  • Scottish Child Payment
  • Carer Support Payment
  • Pension Age Disability Payment
  • Scottish Adult Disability Living Allowance

Social Security Scotland has confirmed that Best Start Foods payments will not be affected.
