Rashford Swap Deal
Marcus Rashford could be the key to Manchester United completing another big summer transfer as part of a huge swap deal. Despite impressing on loan at Barcelona last season, the Spanish club did not activate a £26m purchase option. With Barcelona signing Anthony Gordon and Karim Adeyemi, a return to Camp Nou is blocked.
Italian publication Gazzetta dello Sport claims the England forward could help bridge a deal for United midfield target Manu Kone. The 25-year-old French international is reportedly available for £51m this summer. To fund the transfer and balance salary requirements, Rashford might move in the opposite direction.
Roma are reportedly in need of a left-sided attacker but are restricted by Financial Fair Play rules, a stumbling block given Rashford's £350,000-per-week wages. However, Rashford could become the catalyst in a huge swap deal.
Carrick Axes Four Players
Michael Carrick has made five signings this window, including midfielders Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans, back-up goalkeeper Karl Darlow, and academy prospects Tynan Thompson and Kit Margetson. But with pre-season underway following a loss to Wrexham and a win over Rosenborg, several departures are on the cards.
The Daily Mail reports that goalkeeper Radek Vitek, defender Harry Amass, and midfielders Dan Gore and Toby Collyer are all set to leave this summer. Vitek, 22, and Amass, 19, may initially be loaned out with a purchase option. Collyer, 22, who spent last season on loan at Hull City, is wanted permanently by the newly promoted Tigers. Gore, 21, faces the chop after a temporary spell with Rotherham United.
