McDonald's New Candyfloss Frappé: Best Drink in Decades, Reviewer Says
McDonald's Candyfloss Frappé: Best Drink in Decades

McDonald's has launched a new drink as part of its summer range, and one reviewer who got an early taste says it is the best thing the chain has done in decades. The Candyfloss Frappé, described by a McDonald's spokesperson as a "sweet, creamy, nostalgia-packed treat," is now available at participating locations.

First Impressions of the Candyfloss Frappé

Shania King-Soyza, writing for the publication, reported being among the first to sample the beverage. She praised the drink for its balanced flavor, noting that despite its candyfloss-inspired name, it is not excessively sweet or cloying. Instead, it offers a refreshing, fruity taste that is well-balanced and easy to enjoy. The velvety consistency gives it a luxurious feel without being overly rich, and it avoids the overly artificial taste common in many strawberry-flavored products.

King-Soyza's boyfriend, who accompanied her to the tasting event, was initially skeptical but ultimately enjoyed the drink even more than she did. He said: "The drink was smooth, delicious and had the right amount of sweetness. It was refreshing and perfect for this heatwave."

Other Summer Menu Additions

Alongside the Candyfloss Frappé, McDonald's has introduced several other beverages for the summer season. The Vanilla Matcha Frappé, which is currently available, offers a pleasantly sweet flavor with a subtle hint of bitter green tea, making it a creamy and cooling alternative to iced coffee. The chain is also bringing back the popular Green Apple x Sprite Zero, as well as new options like Frozen Cherry Lemonade, Chocolate Honeycomb Frappé, and Raspberry x Sprite Zero.

A McDonald's spokesperson shared details on the seasonal lineup: "Sip through to late summer with the Frozen Cherry Lemonade - a tangy but chilly drink with a deliciously sweet cherry flavoured swirl, before being replaced by the Frozen Strawberry Lemonade later this August. A refreshing, icy blend of tangy frozen lemonade and sweet strawberry-flavoured swirl. And don't miss the Chocolate Honeycomb Frappé, a rich chocolate frappé topped with cream and crunchy honeycomb pieces."

Pricing and Availability

The new drinks are available at McDonald's restaurants across the UK. The Candyfloss Frappé, Vanilla Matcha Frappé, and Chocolate Honeycomb Frappé are priced at £3.69 for a medium. The Frozen Cherry Lemonade costs £3.09 for a medium, while the Sprite Zero mixology drinks (Green Apple, Raspberry, and Pineapple) are £2.29 each. The Candyfloss Frappé is available for a limited time, but the reviewer expressed hope that it would earn a permanent spot on the menu, citing a lingering craving for its creamy strawberry sensation.
