Manchester United have reportedly set their sights on three more signings as they step up their plans for the summer transfer window. The club has already been linked with a host of potential new additions and has brought in reinforcements this week, including Andrey Santos in a £50 million deal from Chelsea and Karl Darlow on a free transfer from Leeds United.
Youri Tielemans Move Nears
United are also pursuing Aston Villa midfielder Youri Tielemans, who has a £35 million release clause in his contract. Tielemans recently represented Belgium at the World Cup. The update on Tielemans comes amid uncertainty around Atalanta star Ederson, whom United had agreed to sign earlier in the summer for £35 million plus £3.8 million in add-ons. However, Atalanta director Cristiano Giuntoli stated: "We were stunned [by Man United calling Ederson deal off]. Now we are working on a new contract for him."
Three More Targets Identified
According to The Sun, after completing the Tielemans deal, United will look to sign another midfielder, a left winger, and a forward. This would bring their total number of signings to six ahead of their return to the Champions League. However, the report also claims that United could "pause" further signings after Tielemans to assess options and finalize player departures.
Pre-Season Preparations
Manager Michael Carrick will be busy preparing the squad for the new Premier League campaign, with pre-season starting this week. United will travel to Finland to face Wrexham on Saturday in their first friendly, then face Rosenborg in Norway. They will also play Atletico Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain in Sweden, followed by a match against Leeds in Dublin. Their opening Premier League fixture is against newly-promoted Hull City at the MKM Stadium on August 22.
