Manchester United have seen a £40million exit clause for Marcus Rashford expire, while Aston Villa are keeping details of Morgan Rogers' contract secret, as the summer transfer window heats up.
Rashford Clause Expires
Marcus Rashford spent last season on loan at Barcelona, but the Spanish club declined the £26m purchase option in that deal. Barcelona instead signed Anthony Gordon for £70m in May. Rashford's United contract contained a £40m exit clause that barred Manchester City and Liverpool from triggering it. However, according to The Athletic, that clause expired on 15 July, meaning any future transfer must be negotiated from scratch.
Morgan Rogers Secrecy
Aston Villa's Morgan Rogers is attracting interest from Arsenal, with Villa reportedly valuing him at £130m. Football Insider reports that Villa are remaining coy about whether Rogers has a release clause in his current contract. If such a clause exists, it would be difficult for Villa to prevent his departure, and several clubs, including Manchester United, could join the pursuit.
United's Summer Signings
United have already made three signings this week: Andrey Santos from Chelsea for £50m, goalkeeper Karl Darlow on a free transfer after his Leeds contract expired, and Youri Tielemans for £35m after activating his Aston Villa release clause. Manager Michael Carrick is preparing for his first full season in charge.
