Lloyds Banking Group has unveiled plans to close an additional 79 branches over the next year, marking another significant reduction in its physical footprint. This latest wave includes 31 Lloyds Bank branches and 48 Halifax sites, building on the 95 closures already announced earlier this year.
Once these closures are completed, Lloyds Banking Group will operate 531 branches across the UK. The north-west and south-east of England are among the hardest-hit regions, each losing 12 branches. London will see 10 branches shut their doors.
The banking group noted that over three-quarters of the closing branches are within one mile of another Lloyds Banking Group site, and 95% have an alternative branch within five miles. A spokesperson said: “With access to one of the biggest branch networks in the UK, alongside local banking options like our Community Bankers, the Post Office, PayPoint, plus our leading apps and 24/7 messaging service, we offer our customers more choice and convenience than ever before.”
