Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer BYD, a major rival to Tesla, has announced a £1,000 discount on all its cars as part of a summer sales event. The offer, called the 2026 Drive Into Summer Sales Event, runs from Thursday 18 June to Sunday 21 June 2026, with vehicles needing to be registered by 30 September 2026.
Details of the Discount
The deposit contribution of up to £1,000 is available to private retail customers who order a new BYD from a participating UK retailer. Business customers are not eligible. There is no limit on the number of times a customer can use the offer, allowing multiple savings. BYD stated that the deal gives UK buyers “the chance to benefit from even better value for money across the entire range.”
For the popular electric BYD Seal, the discount means customers can secure the car for £378 per month with a £2,999 customer deposit. The offer applies to all brand-new BYD models.
BYD's Market Performance
BYD has established itself as a leading player in the electric vehicle market, outselling Tesla globally last year. BYD sales rose 28% in 2025, with 2.25 million vehicles sold worldwide, compared to Tesla's 1.64 million, a 9% decline. Earlier this year, BYD became the UK’s best-selling electric vehicle brand, achieving a 7% market share.
