Bruno Fernandes is fully fit and available for Portugal's Nations League clash with Denmark in Copenhagen on Thursday, easing Manchester United's concerns over their captain.
The 32-year-old missed Portugal's meeting with Norway last week due to a persistent issue and had been following an individual training programme while on international duty.
According to reports in Portugal, Fernandes travelled to Malmo with his teammates and took part in training as normal, with no lasting effects from the problem. He is now considered available for the Denmark match and could be restored to the starting XI.
Manager's earlier caution
Speaking last week, Portugal boss Jorge Jesus had expressed caution over Fernandes' fitness. He said: "In the game against Wales, we went in with all the available players but Bruno Fernandes came off with a complicated problem. We'll see what happens until tomorrow.
"Experience tells me that on the third day not all players manage to recover but that's the same for Norway as for us. However, the player who comes in gives as many guarantees as the one who might come off, that's what I'll base my decision on.
"The medical team identified these two players as the most concerning, Nuno Mendes could be available for the game. The other case [Fernandes] involves treatment and recovery time. He's coming off an injury at United, and he told me he's been playing with that pain for the last three games, which is hindering him.
"It was one of the factors that prevented Bruno from playing at his best against Wales. I've already spoken to him and I prefer not to risk it in this game so he's fully fit for the Denmark match."
United's schedule ahead
Following the Denmark clash, Portugal have one further game during the international break against Norway. Fernandes will then return to United commitments, having scored four goals and provided an assist in seven appearances for Michael Carrick's side this season.
United's next Premier League fixture is against Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford, followed by a Champions League meeting with Atletico Madrid.
