An 'excellent' bank account that pays customers £200 and includes Apple TV+ has been highlighted by a money expert. Moneyfactscompare has announced its Pick of the Week, featuring top financial products including savings, mortgages, and current accounts.
Savings
Chip Easy Access Account
Caitlyn Eastell, personal finance analyst at Moneyfactscompare.co.uk, commented: “Chip has increased the rate on its Easy Access Account to 5.01% AER, making it market-leading. However, savers should note the 1.51% AER bonus lasts only six months, so reviewing the deal after expiry is crucial. The account has no minimum deposit and allows further additions anytime. Access is permitted, but making four or more penalty-free withdrawals drops the rate to 2.91% AER, requiring careful planning. Overall, this account earns an Excellent Moneyfacts product rating.”
Mortgages
TSB Five-Year Fixed Rate Mortgage (85% LTV)
Caitlyn said: “TSB has reduced many fixed rates by up to 0.25%. The five-year deal at 85% loan-to-value for remortgage customers is now 4.89% until August 31, 2031. It includes a £995 fee, but offers free valuation and either £300 cashback or free legal fees. Borrowers can also make overpayments and take payment holidays. This deal earns an Excellent Moneyfacts product rating.”
HSBC Two-Year Fixed Rate Buy-to-Let Mortgage (60% LTV)
Caitlyn added: “HSBC has cut rates for landlords by up to 0.12%. The two-year option at 60% LTV for second-time buyers is now 4.86%, strengthening its position as a Moneyfacts Best Buy. It is fee-free and includes a free valuation, making it great for saving upfront costs. The deal earns an Outstanding Moneyfacts Product Rating.”
Credit Cards
Virgin Money 36 Month Balance Transfer Credit Card Mastercard
Caitlyn noted: “Virgin Money has reduced the introductory balance transfer fee to 3.10% on its 36-month card. This is one of the longest balance transfer terms available. However, the fee rises to 5% after two months. The card also offers 0% on purchases for the first three months, then 24.9% APR. This card sits towards the top of the Moneyfacts Best Buy tables and earns an Outstanding product rating.”
Banking
Barclays Bank Account
Caitlyn explained: “Barclays has launched a new £200 switching offer on its Bank Account. Customers must switch using the Current Account Switch Service (CASS) and meet other criteria. The account does not offer credit interest or rewards, but includes a £15 interest-free buffer on arranged overdrafts. Customers can earn cashback through Barclays Cashback partners with Blue Rewards, at an extra cost. The account earns an Excellent Moneyfacts product rating.” The account also includes a subscription to Apple TV+ worth £9.99 per month.
