Catherine Zeta-Jones has purchased a multi-million-pound penthouse apartment in Rome for her husband Michael Douglas, according to a report in The Mail on Sunday. The 56-year-old actress reportedly saw the property for the first time last week, and it is located in a prestigious historic palazzo near Piazza Navona, offering stunning views towards St Peter's Basilica.
The penthouse has been a passion project for Zeta-Jones, who has been renovating it since first viewing it last November and has spent millions on artwork. The couple was recently spotted visiting the new abode together, with Douglas wearing a baseball cap and sunglasses while Zeta-Jones carried a £3,900 Chanel bumbag, before dining at San Marco restaurant.
The A-list couple, parents to son Dylan, 25, and daughter Carys, 23, primarily live in a riverfront estate in Irvington, New York, which spans 12,000 square feet with eight bedrooms and 10 bathrooms. They have been trying to sell that property, originally listed for $12 million, with the price reduced to $9.75 million as of March 2026.
In addition to their New York home and new Rome penthouse, the couple also owns properties in Canada and Spain. Zeta-Jones told The Sunday Times Style, 'I know it sounds very jet set, and I love to surround myself with beauty, but it’s not excessive, it’s very comfortable.'
