Dwight Yorke Warns Man United Against Bruno Guimaraes Transfer
Yorke: Guimaraes Not Good Enough for Man United

Manchester United legend Dwight Yorke has warned his former club that Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes 'isn't good enough' to play at Old Trafford. The Reds are seeking midfield reinforcements after Casemiro's free-agent departure, but Yorke believes the Brazilian international would not elevate United to title contention.

United's Midfield Search Continues

United have already secured Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa for £35 million and Chelsea's Andrey Santos for £48 million. However, they are still looking for one more upgrade. Atalanta's Ederson was a primary target until he signed a contract extension after a £35 million deal collapsed. Guimaraes has been linked with a move, but Arsenal appear to be in pole position, with Newcastle's asking price reportedly between £80 million and £85 million.

Yorke's Verdict on Guimaraes

Speaking to Boyle Sports, Yorke said: 'I don't know about Bruno Guimaraes. I'm not sure he has been that impressive. I watched him play for Brazil at the World Cup and he's not convinced me. I think he's good. He's shown that at Newcastle United. He's got a good work ethic. I understand the value of that. But is that what you're paying for when you sign a player to come to Manchester United? A good work ethic?'

Yorke added: 'Listen, he's a solid player and maybe he's good enough to get into a team at the level Manchester United should be at but is going to take them to another level? Will Bruno Guimaraes put United any closer to the Premier League title? If so, he's a good signing. But he doesn't excite me. I'm not seeing him picking up a ball and boom, sending over one of those diagonal passes or cutting defenders apart with one ball. I just don't see that quality from him. That's why his performances for Brazil worried me. He was just another solid player in that team.'

Alternative Target Suggested

Yorke suggested United should target Lille's Ayyoub Bouaddi, an 18-year-old midfielder who impressed for Morocco at the World Cup. 'Bring me players that are going to make us superior! I'm not so sure that's Bruno Guimaraes. The World Cup was an opportunity for him to tell the world there's a reason why a team like Manchester United are going to be after me, and he's come up short, in my opinion,' Yorke said.

Bouaddi is also linked with Manchester City, Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, and Liverpool, with Lille setting an asking price of around £84 million and keen to retain him for at least another season.
