A woman who regularly shares thrifting finds on TikTok revealed that a £160 Vinted order arrived with almost every item shattered. The buyer had purchased a set of Emma Bridgewater plates and bowls, but poor packaging left the contents in pieces.
Poor packaging despite 'fragile' labels
Despite the seller writing 'fragile' on every side of the box, the items were not properly protected. The first box contained four plates priced at £40, stuffed into a bag for life and loosely wrapped in bubble wrap – with all four wrapped together rather than individually. The second box held six plates (costing £90), packaged similarly, resulting in every plate breaking. A third package with bowls also lacked individual protection, leaving several bowls broken.
The woman said: 'I did ask this person to wrap [the items] really well, and they did confirm they were going to.' She shared messages where the seller assured they had told their husband to pack them safely.
Refund pending
The woman showed a screenshot of the Vinted order, now cancelled, with a refund being processed. However, it remains unclear whether she will receive her money back. Commenters expressed sympathy, noting the seller's oversight. One said: 'Every plate should be wrapped in bubble wrap separately, and then the whole thing should also be wrapped in bubble wrap.' Another commented: 'Such a shame for you and the seller. Hope you got your money back, as [that's definitely the] seller's fault.'
