West Ham United have firmly ruled out selling captain Jarrod Bowen this summer, despite intense interest from Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United, Aston Villa and Everton. The 29-year-old winger is one of several high-profile players expected to leave the London Stadium after the club's relegation to the Championship, but the Irons have made it clear their prized asset is not for sale.
Relegation triggers exodus but Bowen stays put
West Ham's relegation has already prompted a significant overhaul. Midfielder Matheus Fernandes joined Tottenham Hotspur for a record £85 million following a transfer battle with Manchester United. However, Sky Sports reports that West Ham have absolutely no interest in selling Bowen, with no price tag quoted. The England international still has four years remaining on his contract, and the huge fee received for Fernandes has reduced any financial pressure to sell.
Bowen's stellar record and England snub
Since joining from Hull City in 2020, Bowen has amassed 85 goals and 63 assists in 280 appearances for West Ham. He notably scored the winner in the 2023 UEFA Conference League final. Despite 22 England caps, he was controversially omitted from Thomas Tuchel's World Cup squad after recording 23 goal contributions in 42 matches last season. His consistent performances have made him one of the Premier League's most sought-after forwards outside the traditional 'big six'.
Club sends strong signals
West Ham have reinforced their stance by featuring Bowen in the launch of their new home kit this week, widely interpreted as a sign he will remain at the club. Bowen is expected to report for pre-season training next week. While his personal stance on a move remains unknown, a return to the top flight and potential Champions League football at United, Liverpool or Villa would be tempting, but he shares a strong affinity with West Ham.
United pivot to Summerville
Manchester United have quickly moved on from the Bowen blow, reportedly opening talks to sign his teammate Crysencio Summerville. The Dutch winger, valued at £50 million, impressed at the World Cup and is also of interest to Arsenal and Chelsea. West Ham are also expected to listen to offers for former Red Devil Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Jean-Clair Todibo.
