Tottenham Hotspur have reached an agreement to sign Sandro Tonali from Newcastle United in a deal that could reach £100 million. According to The Athletic, a deal between both clubs has been struck that will see Spurs pay an initial £92.5 million for Tonali, with an additional £7.5 million in proposed add-ons based on multiple Champions League qualifications.
Club-Record Transfer
The transfer will be a club-record for Tottenham, who are enjoying a busy summer under manager Roberto De Zerbi. The Magpies have already rejected two bids from Tottenham for the Italy international after stepping up their pursuit late last month by initiating club-to-club contact. Personal terms between Tonali and Spurs were never expected to be a problem.
De Zerbi's Top Target
Tonali was identified as a top target for Spurs boss Roberto De Zerbi as he looks to rebuild his squad after helping the club avoid relegation from the Premier League. Arsenal have also been linked with a move for the midfielder, who signed for Newcastle from AC Milan for £55 million three years ago.
