Swansea City are reportedly keen on Queens Park Rangers defender Jake Clarke-Salter. According to West London Sport, the Swans are set to join Watford in the race for the centre-back, who has spent four years at Loftus Road after joining from Chelsea.
Interest played down
Sources at Swansea have heavily played down interest in the 28-year-old, although a centre-back is clearly a key priority ahead of Tuesday's deadline. Clarke-Salter, who turns 29 next month, has made 79 appearances in all competitions for Rangers, but there are clearly some questions over his long-term future with the club.
Defensive concerns
The Swans were keen on adding to their options even before the recent potential season-ending injury to Cameron Burgess. There are also concerns over Wales international Ben Cabango, who limped out of Saturday's goalless draw with Sheffield United.
The extent of Cabango's problem isn't yet known, but it might well have added more urgency to Swansea's search. Conor Coady is another name to have been linked in recent days. However, club insiders have insisted those suggestions are wide of the mark at this stage.
Nevertheless, Matos will be aware of his thinning options at the heart of his defence, with new arrival Stephen Welsh and youngster Filip Lissah the only fully fit senior options right now.
Midfield pursuit
Swansea are also on the hunt for a midfielder, having missed out on Andre Almeida and Ousseynou Fall Seck earlier in the window. However, they are now locked in talks for Porto and Canada midfielder Stephen Eustáquio.
