Mohamed Salah has brought his long and successful association with Liverpool to an end, and the Egyptian forward is now tipped to make a Saudi Arabia transfer this summer.
Salah's Liverpool departure confirmed
The player affectionately dubbed the Egyptian King on the red half of Merseyside agreed in March to cut short his Anfield contract, having previously signed a deal keeping him at the club until 2027. Salah commemorated his exit with a heartfelt video message posted on social media.
"Leaving is never easy," he said. "You gave me the best time of my life. I will be always one of you. This club will always be my home to me and to my family. Thank you for everything. Because of all of you, I will never walk alone."
Next destination: Saudi Arabia leads the race
Focus is now expected to shift towards the striker's next destination. Salah himself remains away at the World Cup representing his nation, where his team will meet Argentina in the last 16, but sorting out his future will be a crucial matter of business this summer. Turkish outfit Fenerbahce had previously been tipped as bookmakers' favourites to secure the 34-year-old's services, but a transfer to Saudi Arabia is now regarded as the most probable outcome.
According to SkyBet, Al Ahli are now thought to be leading the race for his signature, priced at 6/4 to complete a deal. Close behind are Al Hilal at 15/8, while Al Ittihad (10/3) also feature amongst the potential suitors. The prospect of Salah remaining in the United States and joining an MLS club has been placed at odds of 6/1.
