The UK version of Powerball, the world's biggest jackpot game, launches this week, operator Allwyn has confirmed. Tickets go on sale from Tuesday at £4 per line, with the first draw on Thursday.
How Powerball Works in the UK
UK players will compete with their US counterparts for shared jackpots that can reach billions, paid out over 30 years. The current US jackpot is estimated at $416 million (£311 million). If it rolls over until Thursday, UK players could win it in the opening draw.
The UK game offers uncapped jackpots starting at £12 million, which can grow into the hundreds of millions or billions. It also features an extra prize tier: matching two main numbers wins a fixed £8, exclusive to UK players. Matching five main numbers wins a fixed £1 million. Other prize tiers vary based on drawn balls and winner count.

This launch follows the National Lottery's biggest overhaul of its Lotto game since 1994, giving players two chances to win per £2 ticket from June 7. That change is expected to more than double Lotto millionaires from about 140 to 345 per year.
Recent Tech Upgrade and Sales Figures
Allwyn recently completed a £450 million technology upgrade, moving 18 million player records and over three billion historical transactions to new platforms, and transforming retail partner technology. Latest figures show total National Lottery sales reached £8.1 billion in 2025, up 3.5% year-on-year. More than £1.7 billion was generated for good causes, funding health, education, arts, sports heritage, and charitable causes, while £967 million was raised in taxes.
