Newcastle United seal £43m deal for Bazoumana Toure

Newcastle United have completed the signing of Ivory Coast international Bazoumana Toure from TSG Hoffenheim for a fee understood to be £43 million. The 20-year-old winger has agreed a long-term contract, becoming the club's second senior arrival of the summer transfer window.

Deal follows Tonali windfall

The acquisition comes just days after Newcastle recouped £100 million from the sale of Italy midfielder Sandro Tonali. Toure's arrival signals the club's intent to reinvest proceeds from major departures into emerging talent. A club statement described the Ivorian as a "highly rated" prospect who featured three times at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, helping his nation reach the knockout stages.

Toure joins from Bundesliga side Hoffenheim for an undisclosed fee, though sources confirm the £43 million price tag. He follows French goalkeeper Ewen Jaouen, who officially joined Newcastle on Wednesday.

Player and coach reaction

Speaking on his move, Toure expressed his delight: "I’m very, very happy to be here. It was my dream since I was young to play in the Premier League for a big team like Newcastle. Newcastle is like a family, which will help me show my best on the pitch. I will give my best every single day for this shirt."

Head coach Eddie Howe highlighted Toure's potential: "He has shown his ability to perform in a top European league during his time in Germany and has gained really good experience with his national team, especially at this summer’s World Cup. We feel that he’s a player with a really high ceiling – he’s somebody who we believe can offer us something different."

Sporting director's perspective

Sporting Director Ross Wilson praised the transfer process: "At just 20 years old, he’s already a hugely exciting young talent who has progressed year on year. We are sure there’s plenty more growth still to come – development we’re excited to nurture here at Newcastle. We’ve been working to get this transfer arranged in recent weeks, whilst Bazoumana has been at the World Cup." Wilson also thanked Hoffenheim for their professionalism in negotiations.

Toure is expected to compete for a place on the wing as Newcastle prepare for the upcoming Premier League season. His arrival bolsters an attack that already includes Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon.
