Newcastle-based heart charity Chuf has been selected for this year's Big Give campaign, enabling supporters to double their donations for one week. The charity, which supports families across the North East living with complex heart conditions, hopes to unlock up to £10,000 in matched funding, potentially raising a total of £20,000.
Campaign Details and Timeline
The Big Give campaign runs from 12pm on Monday, June 22, to 5pm on Monday, June 29. Donations made through Chuf's dedicated Big Give platform will be matched, allowing the charity to maximise its fundraising efforts. Chuf aims to use the funds to support babies, children, young people, adults, and families receiving care at the Children's Heart Unit at the Freeman Hospital.
How the Funds Will Be Used
The funds raised will support Chuf's three strategic pillars: Holistic Care, Lifelong Support, and Innovation. This includes practical and emotional support for families on the ward, special experiences for patients and siblings, and investment in pioneering equipment and technology. These services fall outside standard NHS capacity, filling a critical gap in care.
Charlotte Campbell, Director of Fundraising and Operations at Chuf, described the campaign as a "special opportunity." She said: "While we are there for families through some of the hardest moments they may ever face, we also strive to bring comfort, joy, and meaningful connection along the way." She urged the community and corporate partners to donate, share, or spread the word to unlock every pound of matched funding.
Support from Postcode Lottery
The campaign is made possible thanks to Postcode Lottery players through funding awarded by the Postcode Neighbourhood Trust. To have their contributions doubled, donors must give directly through Chuf's official Big Give campaign page between the specified dates.
