The expectant mother, who shared her dilemma on Reddit, said she is 'fixated' on the name Ambrose, which she discovered through the historical crime novels by Ambrose Parry. She loves its Victorian-era charm but fears it could come across as 'pretentious' and leave her son open to teasing.
Ambrose has Greek origins, meaning 'immortal', and derives from 'ambrosia', the divine food of the gods in Greek mythology. However, the woman worries that people will associate it with the British dessert brand Ambrosia.

She wrote: 'I feel like it sounds quite pretentious. Like you'd expect to find Ambrose in the pages of a dark academia novel... Also, ambrosia salad? Does that come to mind when you hear Ambrose?
