Marks & Spencer has announced a major change across a range of food items sold in its stores, cutting the price of more than 65 commonly bought products to help shoppers manage costs. The retailer said the reductions will be made across its fresh food, cupboard and freezer ranges.
Remarksable Value Range Expanded
The change will see a rise in the number of products included in the M&S Remarksable Value range, with 145 products now benchmarked to competitor prices. The retailer stated that while it will be cutting the cost of these products in stores, it will be 'maintaining M&S quality ingredients and industry-leading sourcing standards'.

Commenting on the price cuts, Managing Director of M&S Food, Alex Freudmann, said: "As we double the size of our Food business, we are continuing to invest in quality and price to bring the best food to our customers. These price reductions across key family favourites like salmon, eggs and veg are all part of our commitment to help our customers to eat great tasting food every day, without compromise. This is another step on our transformation journey as we reinvest for growth."
Products with New Lower Prices
Products with new lower prices include M&S's Omega 3 rich salmon fillets, British beef mince, free-range eggs, tomato ketchup, tortilla wraps, onions and French fries.
£65 Million Investment
The change follows a £65 million investment from M&S, aimed at lowering the prices of weekly shopping essentials for customers. The retailer added that it has not reduced the quality of products in its Remarksable Value range to make them cheaper, but instead has been able to bring prices down through investments with long-term suppliers.
Other Recent Announcements
It comes after M&S also announced this week that it will be offering 1,000 training places across its stores to help young people craft a retail career. The historic retailer unveiled plans to offer graduate-style training places with "no degree requirement" to those aged 18 to 24, in order to reduce the number of young adults who are not in employment, education or training. The store also revealed last week that it has axed its popular mobile Scan & Shop service, which had allowed customers to scan items as they shopped.
