Minteh to Liverpool stalls as Brighton demand £80m

Liverpool's pursuit of Brighton winger Yankuba Minteh has hit a snag, with negotiations stalling over the weekend. Brighton have informed Liverpool that they will only sell the Gambian international for £80million, a valuation the Reds are currently unwilling to meet.

Liverpool had previously tabled a £60million offer for the winger, but that bid was rejected. According to talkSPORT, Liverpool are not expected to return with a third bid unless Brighton lower their asking price.

Transfer window enters final week

The news comes as the Premier League transfer window enters its final week, with clubs across the top flight rushing to complete last-minute business. Manchester United announced the £70million signing of Carlos Baleba on Tuesday, bolstering their midfield options.

Baleba may not be the only Brighton player to move this week, as Liverpool also target a deal for Minteh. The Reds are additionally pushing to sign Bradley Barcola from Paris Saint-Germain, and completing both deals could pave the way for Cody Gakpo to leave for either Tottenham or Manchester City.

Domino effect looms

With several potential moves still in the balance, the transfer market could see a chain reaction of deals before the deadline. Express Sport is providing live updates on all the day's biggest transfer stories.
