Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed the deal on X: "João Gomes to Aston Villa, here we go! Verbal agreement in place at €40m fee plus €5m add-ons. Wolves accept £38m package and authorise medical for João Gomes to #AVFC. Gomes left training to travel and complete move."
The 25-year-old Brazilian had been on Manchester United's radar for some time, with Liverpool also monitoring his situation after Wolves' relegation to the Championship. Gomes was one of few bright spots in a dismal Premier League campaign for the Midlands club.
Marcus Rashford's Barcelona Dream Fades
Marcus Rashford's hopes of a permanent return to Barcelona have suffered another blow. Spanish reports indicate that Ferran Torres' future remains uncertain until September, delaying any potential move.
Rashford spent last season on loan at Barcelona, but the Catalan club declined to trigger his £26m buy-out clause. They have since signed Anthony Gordon from Newcastle for £70m and are poised to snap up Karim Adeyemi from Borussia Dortmund, both of whom play in Rashford's preferred position.
