Manchester United could leverage Tottenham Hotspur's reported interest in Marcus Rashford to acquire multiple players from the north London club. Rashford is widely expected to leave Old Trafford this summer after being deemed surplus to requirements last year, spending the previous season on loan at Barcelona where he scored 14 goals in all competitions.
Rashford's Situation at Manchester United
Despite wanting to stay at Barcelona, the Catalan club declined to activate his £26 million purchase clause, prompting his return to United. Rashford reportedly prefers to continue his career elsewhere, with Tottenham considering a shock move. The 28-year-old has a £40 million release clause in his United contract, but Spurs are reluctant to pay that amount and are seeking to negotiate a lower fee.
Potential Swap Deal Players
A swap deal could benefit both clubs. Tottenham has several players who could reduce Rashford's asking price. Lucas Bergvall, 20, reportedly submitted a transfer request over the weekend, expressing a desire for a new challenge. He could be a shrewd signing for United, offering potential for future profit.
Cristian Romero is another candidate for a part-exchange deal. United is interested in signing a central defender, and Romero is among the Premier League's best when at his peak. For Spurs, offloading one of their highest earners would free up wage bill space for new additions.
If United seeks a like-for-like replacement for Rashford, Mathys Tel or Xavi Simons could be offered. However, it remains uncertain if such a deal will materialize, as Tottenham has yet to formalize their interest. Reports suggest Rashford is currently unwilling to join another Premier League club, meaning Spurs would need to convince him.
