Manchester United are accelerating their summer transfer plans, with three signings potentially completed this weekend. Goalkeeper Karl Darlow, midfielder Andrey Santos, and Atalanta's Ederson are all close to joining the club.
Darlow Set for Free Transfer
Karl Darlow, 35, is expected to arrive on a free transfer after leaving Leeds United when his contract expired last month. He will serve as backup to Senne Lammens, with three goalkeepers departing Old Trafford this summer: Andre Onana rejoined Trabzonspor on loan, Altay Bayindir is set for a permanent return to Turkey, and Radek Vitek is leaving for regular first-team action after an impressive loan at Bristol City, potentially generating profit for United.
Darlow made 22 Premier League appearances for Leeds last season and was offered fresh terms at Elland Road, but he is now anticipated to move across the Pennines to join United.
Santos Medical Underway
A £50 million agreement was struck with Chelsea earlier this week for Andrey Santos, 22, and he has been undergoing medical examinations. The Brazilian midfielder is set to finalise his switch on a five-year contract imminently, with the deal potentially completed as soon as Friday.
Ederson Undergoing Extensive Medical
United have also reached a £35 million agreement with Atalanta for Ederson, with an additional £3.8 million in add-ons. Personal terms on a four-year contract with a one-year option have been settled. The 27-year-old midfielder is undergoing an extensive medical evaluation in Manchester, having conducted preliminary tests during the World Cup. Despite speculation the deal could fall through, it remains firmly on course.
United's players returned to Carrington for pre-season on Thursday, with their first friendly against Wrexham scheduled for July 18 in Helsinki, Finland.
