Man Utd Add Former Sheffield Wednesday Star to Midfield Targets

Manchester United have added a surprising name to their list of midfield targets: Lazio's Fisayo Dele-Bashiru. The Red Devils have already agreed their first summer signing, with Ederson arriving from Atalanta after the World Cup. However, they are expected to make at least one more central midfield addition.

Premier League Targets Expensive

Nottingham Forest's Elliot Anderson appears high on United's wishlist, alongside Brighton's Carlos Baleba, Crystal Palace's Adam Wharton, and Bournemouth's Alex Scott. All these Premier League options come with hefty price tags, prompting United to consider cheaper alternatives.

Dele-Bashiru's Journey

The 25-year-old Nigeria international came through Manchester City's academy but never played for them, moving to Sheffield Wednesday in 2020. After three years with the Owls, he joined Turkish side Hatayspor before a loan to Lazio, which was made permanent for €5.4 million last summer. His performances in Italy have attracted United's attention.

Italian outlet TuttoMercatoWeb reported in January that Nottingham Forest were interested, with Lazio valuing Dele-Bashiru at €15 million (£12.9 million). That is a fraction of the £100 million expected for Anderson or the £80 million for Scott and West Ham's Matheus Fernandes.

While a move for Dele-Bashiru seems unlikely given the calibre of other targets, he could be a value addition if more expensive deals fall through.
