The London Mint Office, which operates a distribution centre in Tonypandy, Rhondda Cynon Taf, has collapsed into administration. The firm, which distributes historic, commemorative and collector coins and medals, appointed Michael Magnay and Jonny Marston of Alvarez & Marsal Europe LLP as joint administrators on July 31.

The London Mint Office, established in 2006, describes itself as "one of the UK's most trusted suppliers of historic, commemorative and collector coins". It is part of Samlerhuset AS, a Norwegian company and one of Europe's biggest distributors of commemorative coins and medals, also owning the Norwegian Mint.
Employment and impact
The company's LinkedIn page states it employs between 51 and 200 people, but the most recent accounts show 248 staff in 2024, with many based at the Welsh processing centre. The company has no official connection to the UK government or the Royal Mint, which is owned by HM Treasury and operates from Llantrisant.
In 2018, the company donated a collection of World War Two Dambusters briefing documents and a commemorative coin to Porthcawl Museum, highlighting the area's historic ties to RAF operations.
