Lochgreen House Hotel Sold to RAD Group

Lochgreen House Hotel, one of Ayrshire's most renowned luxury venues, is set to change ownership at the end of June 2026. Hoteliers Bill and Cath Costley are selling the 5-star property to Cumnock-based RAD Group, owned by Robert and Vivian Kyle.

Nearly Four Decades of Hospitality

The Costley family transformed Lochgreen from a private residence into a premier 40-bedroom destination on the Ayrshire coast over almost 40 years. It has been the flagship property in their portfolio and holds a special place in their legacy.

A spokesperson for the Costleys said: “The decision to sell Lochgreen, as retirement beckons for Bill and Cath Costley, was made with a deep respect for the hotel’s remarkable history and an appreciation for everyone who played a part in its enduring success.”

Smooth Transition for Guests

The sale ensures that all booked events will proceed smoothly. The spokesperson added: “Those who have booked special events at Lochgreen are assured a smooth transition which prioritises the guest experience at all times.”

Bill and Cath Costley expressed gratitude in a statement: “We owe tremendous gratitude to our supporters, staff and patrons, many of whom have been with us since the beginning. Over the years we have created some wonderful memories, celebrating weddings, Christmases, engagements, birthdays and special meals for all kinds of occasions.”

Return to Highgrove

The Costleys are not fully retiring. They will return to Highgrove, their first hotel, to work with their son Andrew, his wife Dawn, and their family on future expansions. Bill and Cath said: “We have had a wonderful life nurturing our beloved Lochgreen, and though there is inevitably a sense of sadness as we leave, we take with us the joy of memories and the wonderful people we’ve met there. Our energies will now return to Highgrove—our first hotel and our first love.”

The spokesperson concluded: “It seems fitting that Bill and Cath conclude their hospitality journey where it started. There have been hotels, pubs, restaurants, coffee shops, ice-cream parlours, catering services, and ready meal production lines along the way, but now, after a busy life well spent, there is a slower pace ahead—a well-earned opportunity to step back and spend time with the people who matter most, in the place where it all began.”
