Liverpool Transfer Update: Diomande Bid, PSG Battle, Herrington Scouted
Liverpool Transfer Update: Diomande, Herrington News

Liverpool have accelerated their summer transfer business under new manager Andoni Iraola after a disappointing fifth-place Premier League finish. The club is undergoing a major overhaul following the departure of Mohamed Salah, with several high-profile additions expected to fit Iraola's high-energy philosophy.

Yan Diomande: £86.7m Bid Planned

RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande has emerged as Liverpool's leading attacking target. Reports indicate an initial offer worth £86.7 million could be tabled for the 19-year-old Ivory Coast international. However, Paris Saint-Germain are also monitoring the player closely, though they have not yet submitted a formal bid.

Before PSG can move for Diomande, they are expected to trim their squad. According to Fabrizio Romano, Atletico Madrid are negotiating a deal for Kang-in Lee, with personal terms progressing well. If completed, PSG could intensify their pursuit of Diomande, but only if the player signals interest in moving to Paris. PSG already boast attacking depth with Ousmane Dembele, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Desire Doue, and Bradley Barcola, leaving question marks over space for another winger.

Wonderkid Defender Lucas Herrington Scouted

Liverpool are also tracking 18-year-old Australian defender Lucas Herrington, who has attracted interest from Barcelona. The central defender, named on the bench for Australia's first two 2026 World Cup matches, is considered one of the country's top emerging talents.

Barcelona have already made an opening proposal for Herrington, but it was rejected by his current club, the Colorado Rapids. The Athletic reports that Liverpool scouts have monitored the teenager's performances in MLS throughout the season, raising speculation that the Reds could enter the race this summer.

Former Premier League defender Rob Holding, now a teammate at Colorado, praised Herrington: "He's super composed. Super relaxed on the ball, under pressure. He's a really good player. He just keeps getting better and better each week."

Future Planning at Centre-Back

With Virgil van Dijk entering the final year of his contract, refreshing the backline is a growing priority for Liverpool. The club have already spent £60 million to recruit 20-year-old defender Jeremy Jacquet from Rennes, but it remains unclear whether they will increase their interest in Herrington before the transfer window closes.
