JD Sports is set to open its largest store in Scotland at The Centre, Livingston this summer, relocating to a larger premises closer to the main entrance. The new store, expected to open in July, will replace the current 9,500 sq. ft unit that has operated since 2008.
Increased Customer Demand Drives Expansion
Due to rising customer demand, JD Sports is upsizing and moving within the shopping centre. The current store will continue trading normally until the new location opens. A celebratory launch featuring competitions and a DJ is planned to mark the opening.
The Centre, Livingston, which attracts over 15.8 million visitors annually and celebrates its 50th anniversary this year, houses more than 150 shops and dining options. It is one of the largest shopping centres in the UK.
New Brands and Leisure Additions
Since LCP UK, part of M Core, acquired the centre over two years ago, several global brands have opened, including Starbucks, Wingstop, MINISO, Søstrene Grene, Flying Tiger, and the first ArrowHeadz store in Scotland. Later this year, Hollywood Bowl will open with 22 bowling lanes, an arcade, and a bar and diner, marking the centre's expansion into leisure.
Simon Eatough, Director at LCP and Asset Manager to The Centre, said: “This is an exciting year for us as we look forward to brands like JD Sports upsizing and relocating and our move into leisure with the opening of Hollywood Bowl. Since we acquired the shopping centre over two years ago, our mission, which continues today, is to attract a broad range of new global brands to ensure all our visitors have a great choice of places to shop and dine out.”
Anticipation Builds for New Store
Patrick Robbertze, Centre Director at The Centre, Livingston, added: “The anticipation and excitement around the opening of our new, larger JD Sports store has been building for months and now the final countdown is officially on. The new larger store will continue to enhance our overall retail offering at The Centre, Livingston, even more, and is guaranteed to be a big hit with our shoppers.”
