Greggs and Costa Boost Glasgow Shopping Centre Refurb

Four major retailers are investing in the refurbishment of The Forge Shopping Centre in Parkhead, Glasgow, marking a significant boost for the UK shopping centre. Greggs, Costa Coffee, Peacocks, and Bonmarché have committed to long-term lease renewals, store expansions, and full refits.

Community Impact

The refurbishments are about more than just appearance; they represent a commitment to the community, according to marketing co-ordinator Jodi Robertson. She stated, "To have four major retailers investing in The Forge at the same time is a real statement of confidence in what we're building here."

Retailer Investments

Greggs is moving to a larger unit within the centre, allowing for an expanded menu and more seating. Costa Coffee will temporarily close from June 12-16 for a full store refit, aiming to provide shoppers with a refreshed customer experience and a relaxed environment. Peacocks and Bonmarché have both renewed their leases for another five years, continuing to offer affordable fashion after over eight years of successful trading at the centre.

Leisure Expansion

The wave of leasing activity follows The Forge's recent expansion into leisure with the arrival of Pure Padel. The addition of Pure Padel and the reaffirmed commitment from key retailers signal an upward trend for The Forge as it looks ahead to 2026.
