NE1's Screen on the Green has returned to Old Eldon Square in Newcastle, offering over 100 free films as part of the Summer in the City programme. The outdoor cinema, which started on July 20, will run until August 31, with screenings at 12 noon and 3pm daily.
Family Favourites and Public Vote Winner
The programme includes a film chosen by public vote: Scooby-Doo: Spooky Island, which will be shown at noon on August 30. It will be followed by Mamma Mia! at 3pm that day. Other highlights include a Muppets Marathon on August 22, featuring four Muppet films from 10:30am to 6pm, and a Kung Fu Panda special on the bank holiday August 31 with four screenings.
Special Screenings for Toddlers and Adults
New this year are Toddler Takeover screenings on Tuesdays at 10:30am, featuring short films based on Julia Donaldson stories such as Stick Man and Tabby McTat. On Wednesdays at 6pm, Tyneside Cinema Takeover screenings include films like Labyrinth and Robot Dreams. Blockbuster Thursdays cater to the post-work crowd with films like Avatar: Fire and Ash and Jurassic World Rebirth, plus new musical screenings showcasing Bruce Springsteen and Elvis Presley.
