Everton have confirmed nine signings across the club’s teams so far this summer, including high-profile additions to the men’s first team and new faces for the women’s side and academy.
Men's First Team Additions
Hayden Hackney and Tyrique George have been the highest profile arrivals to date, joining David Moyes’ side alongside Merlin Rohl. Hackney joined after Everton secured an initial £16.5m deal with Middlesbrough for the Championship player of the year, with the deal potentially rising to close to £25m if ambitious targets are met.
George’s £18m move from Chelsea includes potential add-ons of £6m over the coming years. The 20-year-old was already familiar with the club after spending the second half of last season on loan at Everton. Midfielder Rohl signed a three-year contract after his loan spell became permanent when Everton’s Premier League survival triggered an obligation to sign him from Freiburg for £18m.
Women's Team Reinforcements
A busy week for Everton Women saw Scott Phelan’s side begin their pre-season on Saturday with three additions. Striker Hannah Cain signed after her contract with Leicester City expired, marking a return to the club where she signed her first professional contract in 2018. Upon signing, she said: “Goodison is such an amazing place and it is nice to finally be in it as a home team player. I am really excited to be a part of it.”
Cain joined former Leicester teammate Noémie Mouchon, who completed her move earlier this week. Everton Women also activated the permanent obligation for midfielder Zara Kramžar after the Slovenian’s loan spell last season.
Academy and Under-21s
In the Under-21s, Everton confirmed the signing of goalkeeper Zach Lee on Friday. The 19-year-old had been on trial after previous stints with Barrow, Wigan Athletic, and Kendal Town. After signing a one-year deal, he said: “It's an unbelievable feeling and I'm absolutely over the moon to get it done. It's a proud moment for my whole family, especially my dad. We’ve all put a lot of sacrifices and work in.”
Two of the club’s 11 new scholars have also joined from elsewhere this summer. Promising forward Kai Hutchison was signed from Dundee United and will start the new season in the U18s, along with left-back Tom McDermott, who has joined from Chelsea.
