Consumer experts Which? have named E (Gas & Electricity) as the UK's best energy provider for 2026, with an overall score of 79%, outperforming major suppliers such as Octopus Energy, British Gas, and Ovo Energy.
Survey Methodology and Results
The annual Which? energy satisfaction survey, published at the beginning of 2026, covers 17 suppliers in Great Britain. The results are based on nearly 12,000 energy customers who reported on the service they receive. Which? also conducted its own in-depth assessment of firms' practices to evaluate which are set up in the best interests of their customers. Both criteria were combined to produce the final ranking.
"We surveyed 11,945 members of the general public in September-October 2025," the experts said. "We assessed firms' behind-the-scenes practices in September-November 2025 to compare their approaches to methods of contact, supporting customers who need it, how they performed against their smart meter targets, switching, and complaints data."
