KFC has announced plans to expand its reach across the UK, with new growth ambitions that include opening more outlets and investing in existing locations. The US chicken fast food brand currently operates 1,400 sites across 22 countries and is eyeing further expansion globally.
However, the chain has faced scrutiny over hygiene standards, with Food Standard Agency ratings revealing behind-the-scenes fails at some of the world's most famous fast food restaurants. In a separate incident, a PETA protest took place outside a KFC branch on Brixton Road, Lambeth, with several protesters involved in the demonstration.
Meanwhile, a callous carer who stole over £10,000 from the wife of a bedridden pensioner was jailed after blowing the money on KFC, Netflix, and sunbeds. The carer had been entrusted with looking after the pensioner but instead used the funds for personal expenses.
In other news, Pauline Richards, known as Miss KFC, died last month aged 74. She worked almost every role at the Taunton, Somerset branch, from cleaner to cashier to team leader, and was a beloved figure in the community.
