Celtic have received a significant boost in their pursuit of winger Haissem Hassan after Real Oviedo manager Julian Calero indicated a willingness to let key players leave to focus on youth development. The Egyptian international's release clause has dropped from £16 million to £10 million following Oviedo's relegation from La Liga last season.
Calero Opens Door for Hassan Exit
Speaking to Spanish media, new Oviedo boss Calero stated: "I don't like large squads because of the problems they create. Oviedo is a club that relies on its youth academy, and young players need to be given a chance when the first-team players aren't playing. But that's a decision for the club and the sporting director."
Hassan, who represented Egypt at the World Cup, has been linked with moves to Celtic and Saudi Arabian clubs. Reports suggest the Scottish Premiership champions have made an enquiry for the wide man as they look to replace Daizen Maeda, who is nearing a move to Ipswich Town.
Celtic Revive Interest in Kasper Hogh
Celtic have also reignited their interest in Bodo/Glimt striker Kasper Hogh, whom they targeted in January. Record Sport revealed earlier this year that the Hoops entered the chase for the Danish forward as the winter transfer window wound down. At that time, Celtic had already secured Tomas Cvancara on loan from Borussia Monchengladbach, and Bodo/Glimt raised their asking price after progress in the Champions League.
According to Avisa Nordland, the Denmark international is taking steps towards an exit this summer, having held "good discussions" with club bosses over a move, provided the £7 million asking price is met.
Kyogo Furuhashi Could Return to Celtic
Celtic could also bring back Kyogo Furuhashi as he nears an exit from Birmingham City. The Japanese striker enjoyed a glittering career at Celtic, winning eight trophies before his switch to France. However, the 31-year-old netted only three goals this term following his return to British football with Birmingham City from Stade Rennes.
Birmingham boss Chris Davies has confirmed that an exit is imminent for Kyogo. Japanese outlet Gekisaka claims the Championship side have accepted they will not recoup close to the £10 million they paid for Kyogo, with their asking price "cut." It is understood the striker is keen on a move back to Glasgow's East End.
