Casemiro Breaks Down in Tears as He Discusses Man United Exit
Casemiro in Tears Over Man United Exit

Casemiro appeared deeply emotional in his farewell video to Manchester United, holding back tears as he spoke about the difficulty of leaving the club. His wife Anna also admitted that the decision had been anything but easy for their family.

Farewell to Old Trafford

The veteran midfielder departed Old Trafford following the expiry of his contract, bringing an end to a four-year spell in which he made 160 appearances and lifted two trophies. In a farewell video shared by United, highlighting the Brazilian's highs and lows across his time in Manchester, teammates such as Bruno Fernandes, Matheus Cunha and Diogo Dalot offered heartfelt tributes before Casemiro and Anna shared their own reflections.

"I need to say thank you because it was four unbelievable years," Casemiro began. "I love this club, the fans, the people. Thank you so much. It's very special and emotional for me. I finish in this moment, but it's very emotional."

Family Decision

Anna acknowledged just how tough the decision to leave had been for their family. "As a family, we talked a lot and had to make this difficult decision," she said. "But I think it feels like the end of a very beautiful chapter, as I told Casemiro and our family. I think everything about this moment has been beautiful, right? His chant feels like a declaration of love for him. For us, there's an emptiness in leaving. The love we are receiving through that song means so much."

Supporters made their affection for the midfielder clear, regularly singing 'one more year' chants throughout matches.

Trophies and Final Match

Casemiro wrapped up his United chapter having lifted both the FA Cup and the Carabao Cup, and signed off with a 3-2 win over Nottingham Forest at Old Trafford in May.

Move to Inter Miami

The Brazil international has now agreed to join Inter Miami on a free transfer once his World Cup campaign ends. The 34-year-old is set to link up with David Beckham's MLS franchise next season, forming a star-studded midfield alongside Lionel Messi. Inter Miami did, however, have to clear one final obstacle - his MLS discovery rights. Those were held by LA Galaxy, but Beckham's club has reached an agreement to acquire them, paving the way for the move. A verbal agreement is understood to be in place between all parties, ensuring Casemiro will begin his MLS career when club football resumes after the World Cup.

In Florida, he is expected to become the natural successor to Sergio Busquets, who retired at the end of 2025 after helping Inter Miami win the MLS Cup. Casemiro will slot into a midfield featuring Messi, Rodrigo De Paul, former Barcelona and Liverpool forward Luis Suarez, and ex-Tottenham defender Sergio Reguilon.

Recent International Duty

For Brazil, Casemiro started in their 1-1 draw with Morocco before being substituted at half-time. He then played the full 90 minutes in Brazil's 3-0 win over Haiti last Saturday and is expected to be selected again when Carlo Ancelotti's side face Scotland on Wednesday night at 11pm.
