Jamie Carragher has expressed confusion over Liverpool's reported interest in Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola, urging the club to focus on signing a right-sided attacker instead.
Carragher's concerns
The former Liverpool defender responded on X to a Sky Sports post asking whether Barcola could replace Mohamed Salah at Anfield. 'No he plays on the opposite flank! Liverpool currently have three players who could play from the left in Rio [Ngumoha]/[Cody] Gakpo/[Florian] Wirtz & no one who plays from the right,' Carragher wrote. He later added: 'Forgot [Victor] Munoz as well!!!!!!'
Liverpool lost Salah this summer after his nine-year spell at the club. They have already signed Victor Munoz from Osasuna for £35m, but reports suggest a big-money bid for Barcola is being prepared, with PSG demanding £145m for the 23-year-old.
Arsenal's interest
Arsenal have also been linked with Barcola, but their priority target Vinicius Junior has indicated he wants to renew his contract with Real Madrid. Former Arsenal midfielder Paul Merson said: 'If Arsenal don't get Vinicius, then they have to get Bradley Barcola. They have to get a left winger in, especially now Leandro Trossard has left.' Merson added that letting Trossard go for little fee was poor business.
