The club have sounded out candidates from Barry-Murphy's former club Manchester City for the vacant goalkeeper coach position. Barry-Murphy's relationship with owner Vincent Tan has strengthened, with promotion at the first attempt earning him credit. Senior figures believe Barry-Murphy is the club's biggest asset.
The £7.8million package for Tromsø midfielder Jens Hjertø-Dahl signals Tan's willingness to invest. Norwegian sources suggest increasing the guaranteed portion could seal the deal, with sell-on fee percentages still to be ironed out. Even if Hjertø-Dahl doesn't arrive, the bid shows Tan believes in the manager.
Transfer Strategy
A winger, left-back and striker remain priorities. Barry-Murphy favours quality over quantity, using data-driven profiling before names. This slower process aims to avoid expensive mistakes, as seen last summer with Gabriel Osho and Omari Kellyman not arriving early. Cardiff are working on permanent transfers and loans simultaneously.
