Arsenal's summer spending spree
Arsenal's spending could surge past £160m as four transfers have been given the green light, according to reports. The Gunners have already completed the £35m signing of Piero Hincapie, but they are targeting several other players this summer. Over the past six-and-a-half years, Mikel Arteta has flawlessly delivered on the five-phase plan he set out upon his arrival in December 2019, propelling Arsenal to their first Premier League title in 22 years and a Champions League final.
Sporting director Andrea Berta is understood to be concentrating on fewer but superior quality signings. Mirror Football examines four players, worth a combined total of £160m, who have given Arteta and Berta the green light for a transfer.
Jeremy Monga - £10m
Arsenal are pursuing a deal for Leicester City prodigy Jeremy Monga. Despite interest from other Premier League clubs, the 16-year-old winger is eager to head to north London, making Arsenal his most probable destination. Monga will sign his first professional contract at Leicester on 10 July, when he turns 17, allowing the Foxes to command a fee. Arsenal's opening offer of around £5m was rejected, with Leicester holding firm for at least £10m.
Oscar Mingueza - Free
One of Arsenal's chief targets this summer is a versatile full-back capable of playing on either flank. Oscar Mingueza fits the bill for Arteta, according to Spanish outlet AS. The Celta Vigo defender's contract expires at the end of the month, meaning he could be snapped up as a free agent. The 27-year-old is anticipated to leave La Liga after four years, with interest from Juventus, Newcastle and Aston Villa. Mingueza is keen to move to England, having spent his entire career in Spain. With a market value of £15m according to Transfermarkt, Arsenal would secure a bargain without a transfer fee.
Christos Tzolis - £35m
The BBC reports that Arsenal have been offered Club Brugge winger Christos Tzolis as they seek to refresh their attacking options. Earlier this month, it was claimed that Berta was actively pursuing a deal, with Arteta backing the signing. Tzolis, 24, is extremely eager to join Arsenal. The Greece international could be available for around £35m, which would represent a record fee for a Belgian Pro League player. Tzolis, who began his career at PAOK, scored three goals in 30 appearances for Norwich between 2021 and 2024, but has netted 43 goals for Brugge over the past two seasons.
Morgan Rogers - £80m
Morgan Rogers is Arsenal's primary transfer target this summer. The Aston Villa star is viewed by Arteta as his standout signing, capable of operating on the left wing and in midfield. The player is 'open' to joining Arsenal, and a fee of £80m would be sufficient for Villa to consider selling the 23-year-old, who is currently representing England at the World Cup. Speaking from England's World Cup camp earlier this month, Rogers insisted his focus remained on international duties. However, it emerged last week that Arsenal and England midfielder Declan Rice has been doing everything in his power to convince Rogers to make the move to the Emirates Stadium.
