Manchester City are leading the race to sign Jeremy Monga after Arsenal withdrew from negotiations for the Leicester City winger, according to The Athletic.
Arsenal pull out over valuation
Leicester are set to lose Monga this summer following their relegation from the Championship. The 16-year-old has attracted interest from several Premier League and European clubs. Last year, Monga agreed a professional contract with Leicester, which starts when he turns 17 on July 10, enabling the Foxes to command a transfer fee.
Chelsea and Manchester United have also registered interest, but Arsenal appeared to be in the driving seat after holding direct talks with Leicester. However, the north London club have now pulled out as they believe Leicester's £10 million valuation is too high.
According to talkSPORT, Arsenal's latest offer was £6.5 million, well short of the asking price.
Man City move in
That has allowed Manchester City, last season's Premier League runners-up, to make their move. They are now in negotiations with Leicester over a deal for the teenager.
Monga made his Premier League debut at just 15 years, eight months and 28 days old, becoming the third-youngest player in Premier League history behind Arsenal duo Ethan Nwaneri and Max Dowman. Last August, he became the youngest goalscorer in Championship history with a strike in Leicester's defeat to Preston.
