Arsenal are reportedly the frontrunners to sign Paris Saint-Germain attacker Bradley Barcola this summer, with negotiations over a new contract at the French club now on hold. The 23-year-old French international played a key role in PSG's historic Champions League triumph last season but has since fallen behind Khvicha Kvaratskhelia in the pecking order following an ankle injury sustained in March against Chelsea.
Contract Talks Paused
According to reports from L'Equipe, talks over a new deal for Barcola have been paused until after the Champions League final. PSG are reportedly considering selling the player to fund a move for another attacker, with Arsenal identified as the 'most likely destination' should he leave. The Gunners are expected to pursue attacking reinforcements this summer as they look to build on a potential Premier League and Champions League double.
Interest from Liverpool Cools
Liverpool had previously been linked with Barcola, but their interest is said to have cooled due to his preference for the left wing, whereas the Reds are seeking a successor for Mohamed Salah, who plays on the right flank. Barcola is under contract until 2028 and has scored 13 goals for Luis Enrique's side this season. He was linked with a move to the Premier League last summer but ultimately remained in Paris.
Arsenal's Forward Options
Arsenal's current left-wing options include Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard, both of whom have been touted as potential sale options this summer. A departure for either player would open up a spot for a left-sided attacker like Barcola. The Gunners spent heavily last summer and may need to sell players to finance further deals. Other players tipped to leave the Emirates include academy graduates Ethan Nwaneri and Myles Lewis-Skelly, as well as Ben White and Gabriel Jesus.
Season Finale
Arsenal could be confirmed as Premier League champions before their final domestic game on Sunday, while they face PSG in the Champions League final. The club is poised to strengthen their squad in the summer transfer window, with Barcola emerging as a primary target.
